The annual Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon raised over £2 million for various charities last year.
For 2009 it takes place on Sunday October 11th with M&S again as a proud sponsor.
The route covers the beautiful scenery of four Royal Parks, (Green Park, St James's Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens), and passes many of London's landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, The Royal Albert Hall, Big Ben and the London Eye.
During the half marathon, we'll be helping to keep runners hydrated by providing specially designed bottles of water. After the race, the empties will be collected and sent to the Closed Loop recycling plant at Dagenham, where they'll be recycled into plastic flakes to be turned into food packaging.
We'll also be providing the runners with Fairtrade bananas. Not only will they give an energy boost to hard-working athletes, but, like all Fairtrade products, they'll help small-scale farmers and farm workers in developing countries too.
And for the first time this year, all discarded running clothes along the route will be collected up and donated to Oxfam.
So, a great result all round! Come along and show your support!
