M&S are proud to be presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable development, in recognition of Plan A over the last 5 years.
The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are highly prestigious awards for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development.
The awards are made annually by HM The Queen, and are only given for the highest levels of excellence demonstrated in each category. They are judged to a demanding level and winners receive a number of benefits and worldwide recognition.
M&S was awarded this accolade because "M&S sources products from over 2,000 suppliers, with whom it has established sustainability frameworks that set model environmental and employment standards. It assures good working conditions within its supply chain and in partnership with charities, and it develops compelling initiatives encouraging customers to adopt sustainable life-styles; its work-placement schemes for disadvantaged groups have been exported to overseas suppliers."
"This award is extremely important and is one of the highest accolades given out for business success", said Richard Gillies, Director of Plan A. "Coming in the Jubilee year makes it even more special."
