Treecycling

Treecycling

7 million people brave the weather to walk in the British countryside every weekend, making walking the UK’s most popular outdoor recreation activity.

Sadly, the UK has only 12% woodland coverage, lagging a long way behind the European average of 44%.  To help create new woodland for people and wildlife,  M&S is working with the Woodland Trust to support their Christmas Card Recycling Scheme.

By providing a recycling service for our customers' Christmas cards we can reduce the number of cards that end up in landfill, save energy and help the Woodland Trust to plant more trees.  (Recycling just one Christmas Card saves enough energy to allow 5 people to watch the Queen's Christmas message on TV.)

The Woodland Trust’s work of protecting ancient, and creating new, woodland not only provides stunning playgrounds for walkers and riders it also helps to protect wildlife, reduces air and noise pollution and the most basic of function – abosrbing C02 and producing oxygen..

The Woodland Trust cares for more than 1,000 woods all of which are open free to the public 365 days of the year.  With campaigns and events throught the UK you can get your hands dirty and plant your own tree.

And if you bring your Christmas Cards to be recycled by M&S in January you can help us plant thousands of trees on your behalf with the Woodland Trust.
