M&S has been working with Shelter since 2005 to help make a difference to the many UK families who are homeless or badly housed. So far, with your help, we've raised over £4.7 million.
Millions of people in Britain wake up every day in housing that is run down, overcrowded or dangerous. Many others have lost their home altogether. Bad housing deprives people of security, health and a fair chance in life. Shelter tackles some of the root causes of bad housing by campaigning for new laws, policies and solutions.
There's no place like home.
M&S supports Shelter in lots of different ways, from in-store activity at Christmas to donations of head office clothing samples that cannot be sold that go to Shelter shops all year round. The money raised from our partnership funds Shelter's free housing advice helpline, which helps 46,000 people in desperate need each year.
Shelter's housing advice helpline 0808 800 4444 is open 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday. It's staffed by trained housing advisers who have helped thousands of people with a huge range of problems; from finding a place to sleep to handling mortgage arrears. Working together, we hope to make bad housing something of the past.
People will often phone Shelter when they have exhausted all other avenues of help - we strive to ensure they don't fall through the net and ensure they get the right legal advice, advocacy and support.
