Every woman wants lingerie that makes her feel good. Women who've had breast cancer surgery are no exception.

In 2001 M&S realised that no one on the high street was selling bras to meet the needs of the thousands of women who have had breast cancer surgery.

Working with Breakthrough Breast Cancer and their supporters we developed a range of post-surgery lingerie that is practical and gentle on sensitive skin, but still pretty, feminine and sexy - and includes a 10% donation to fund Breakthrough's lifesaving research, campaigning, and education work.

We also asked Breakthrough to help find our next post-surgery lingerie model. Supporter Amanda Featherstone came forward. Amanda, who has had a mastectomy and breast reconstruction, found the experience of modelling for M&S a very positive step towards dealing with her cancer.

"I thought how nice it would be for a woman to be modelling the range who has experienced breast cancer herself. So a woman who has had surgery can go out shopping for a bra and feel more confident and not feel embarrassed or marginalised," said Amanda.

And because choosing the right bra is never easy we've trained our bra advisors so they can help make sure your post-surgery bra fits just as well as any other M&S bra.

"I thought the M&S post-surgery bras were very nice - and well made. For example, there wasn't stitching where you didn't want stitching, there were parts to put a prosthesis in, if necessary, and also stretchy tops you could wear just after surgery." Amanda Featherstone, post-surgery lingerie model and breast cancer survivor.
